Mary Robinette is one of the most celebrated SFF writers and she breaks down her process in a way that is understandable for new and experienced writers. She shows you her tools and you can pick what you need for your process. I have watched this video multiple times as I edit my novel.

It's not often that you get a chance to interact with a well-known fiction editor and novelist online, getting your questions answered about how to edit your own work. This class offers exactly that. I had heard for years about Mary Robinnete's editing courses and when I finally got the chance to attend one, I jumped at it. I wasn't disappointed. Highly recommended.

This class was extremely useful in my attempts to improve my stories. Mary presents concepts and exercises that are useful and revelatory.

I love Mary Robinette Kowal's classes because of the tools she's created to help understand nuts-and-bolts of craft, and her warm and inclusive approach cuts through the frustrations I run into working on my writing. In her approach generally, and this class specifically, she's taken the time to figure out how to pinpoint what's going when something's not working. What helps me is to learn: the issue is diagnosable, and it's fixable. If a reader (or you) are bored by a section, this doesn't mean (as my anxiety brain so helpfully tells me), 'you suck at this and you should stop.' It simply means there's a technical reason for the issue, and you can fix that issue. In addition to the practical information in the course, I've gotten hope when I needed it. Invaluable.

I've been writing for a good part of my life and I can say that this is one of the most helpful classes on revision and editing that I've ever taken. For those of us who get caught in cycles of endless rewrites or who struggle with making decisions about what to cut and what to keep--this class is for us! After completing Self-Editing with Precision, I now have several concrete steps, tools, and techniques to diagnose and fix problems in my draft while making sure to hang onto the aspects that are working well. Be sure to watch the demonstration at the end of the class - Mary Robinette Kowal is one of the only professional writers I know of who will show her students an early draft of her own work and then takes them through her process step-by-step. She is an excellent teacher who truly wants to help other writers succeed. I can't recommend her, or her classes, enough.
